We’re now fast approaching Christmas and for most people in the UK that means holidays, special time with family and hopefully fun, fun, fun. The shops are already packed to the brim with an assortment of gifts and trinkets. Now is a great time to enjoy all that Christmas has to offer. Christmas shopping, whether for yourself or others can be a delight. There is a wonderful array of Christmas decorations in an assortment of colours and sizes to be found. With such great variety it can be great fun to buy a couple more to add to your collection. Big garden centres in particular can be great places to shop for Christmas decorations. Many garden centres have grottos, which can be great places to take the kids to look in wonder at the displays and lights. Christmas lights really help with making Christmas a magical time, for old and young, and brighten up dark winter nights. Although a little early to be buying your Christmas tree, you may already be planning what you’re going to be eating and stocking up on some tasty indulgences for Christmas. Homemade can often be the best but it’s important to also make things easy. My preference is often to buy some ready made options then if I feel inspired I’ll do a bit of home cooking but there’s no pressure if you are all stocked up.
Christmas can also be a great time for winter walks, preferably in the snow. Sledging for kids, weather permitting, has to be one of the best things about this time of year. Snow can cause disruption in this country with the roads and transport system struggling to cope. I’m however hoping for at least a little snow this Christmas as there is something so magical about a white Christmas. Getting together with friends and family is also another great thing about Christmas. Playing games together or just sharing a meal or drinks can be great fun. If your budget stretches to it you may want to catch a Christmas pantomine or go out for a special meal. Some people also like to get away at Christmas. Holidays can be special times and combining Christmas with a break away should make for an extra special time. Renting a cottage can often be an attractive option for people who want to go away together and rent a ‘home from home’. Before booking a cottage for Christmas do ask about whether the property is decorated. It will be important to many people for the cottage to be complete with decorations and a tree. Whatever you choose to do this Christmas we hope you have a very special time.
